The new iPhone phone is set to be released in 2020, and there are already more than a dozen rumors about it. The name of the iPhone is expected to be iPhone 12 and chances are that they shall also unveil a second phone – iPhone 12 Pro. That is if Apple will follow the same naming sequence they used in 2019.
The phone will feature some major updates and even introduce some new design changes that have not been seen since iPhone X was released in 2017. The iPhones are expected in 3 different display sizes, namely; 6.7, 5.4, and 6.1 Inches.
The rumored 5.4 inches is expected to be the 2020 iPhone and the 12 mini shall be the smaller one. Apple has released this one in size 4.7 inches. The Pro Max shall be the largest iPhone ever made to date, and it is expected to top the 6.5 inch iPhone 11 Pro Max, but the two 6.1 models shall be very much similar to the already existing iPhone 11.
The Main Features of the New iPhone
Now, all of the new phones coming in 2020 are expected to feature an OLED Super Retina display of technology regardless of the price. These were actually very early rumors of the new iPhone model and it is said to be able to support the 120Hz rates but more recent information indicates that Apple shall have to wait till 2021 in order to unveil this feature.
In terms of design, rumors suggest that the new iPhones coming in 2020 will have a pretty significant redesign with a metal frame similar to the frame of iPhone 4 and the iPad Pro.
The iPhone 4 had a very distinctive look because of its stainless steel frame which has been replicated in the new iPhone and this brings in the new design line in the 2021 Pro Models.
There were also more rumors that Apple would use the new TrueDepth camera system that is able to cut down on the size of the notch at the front of the camera, but leaks are a little mixed up on this subject because it appears that there will be a smaller notch on the new 5.4-inch phone and the other models will have a similar notch.
The Camera
The rumors suggest that one of the new 6.1-inch and the 6.7 inch iPhones will be the high-end device featuring triple-lens cameras while the other 6.1-inch and the 5.4-inch models would be the lower-end devices with dual-lens cameras, but with a more affordable price tag.
More rumors of a 3D triple-lens rear camera system that makes use of a laser so as to calculate the depth information of the objects in a room, which helps to improve the AR capabilities and photography are also there.
It is also highly likely that this shall be similar to the LiDAR Scanner that was available in the 2020 iPad Pro, and it also appears that this feature shall only be limited to the higher-end 6.7-inch model iPhone.
5G Support
2020 will actually be the first year when Apple introduces a phone that offers 5G support in the phone and this shall allow the new device to be connected to the 5G network which is of course much faster than the 4G LTE network.
Now, according to the rumors, the iPhones within the iPhone 12 lineup will feature this 5G connectivity and although it is still not very clear whether all of the models shall support this system, the reports suggest that the speeds shall only be limited to specific countries.
Conclusion
The iPhone 12 phones shall be announced during Apple's fall “Hi, Speed” event that is set to happen on Tuesday, October 13, approximately at 10:00 a.m., Pacific Time.
The pre-orders for some of the iPhone 12 models shall then begin on October 16th and the very first shipment of the iPhone 12 phones and the official launch shall be on October 23.
